This week we are shining a light on Senior Software Developer at Syndeo, Neil Mulholland as he shares some insight about his role, the company culture at Syndeo, why he decided to join and what he likes to do in his free time.
Q: What do you like most about your role?
A: It’s a mix of things, but if I had to pick one it would be the variety. Sometimes it feels like every day I’m doing something new! I get to work across all aspects of our platform from requirements and design through to operations and deployment. In other companies you can get pigeon-holed into one small area but it’s great to have that breadth of tasks to keep things interesting.
Q: Why did you decide to join Syndeo?
A: I was actually Syndeo’s first official employee, so it was really early stages when I joined. What really attracted me to the job was the opportunity to work on something completely new and shape its development.
Q: How would you describe the culture at Syndeo?
A: We’re a good bunch and all get along well. I think it’s quite a relaxed culture compared to other places I’ve worked. We don’t take ourselves too seriously!
Q: Can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
A: I’m really interested in wood working and have just taken up whittling. I haven’t come up with any works of art yet, but at least I haven’t cut my thumb off!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I really like reading and try to get through at least a book a month (which doesn’t sound like a lot!). Apart from that I spend a good portion of my free time out walking with my dogs.
We are always on the look out for talented people who want to be part of something very special. If you think that person may be you, send a copy of your CV to jobs@pcdstage14.co.za.www17.flk1.host-h.net
